Jan Petrenko is a Principal at National Standard and Chair of the firm's Global Energy & Transportation groups. Mr. Petrenko is one of the nation's leading energy investors and energy project experts. Jan has substantial direct experience in various types of energy projects including coal, geothermal, solar, biomass and Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) waste to energy technologies. Mr. Petrenko possesses extensive knowledge in structuring and negotiating Power Purchase Agreements, MSW Tipping Agreements and take or pay agreements to satisfy project financing requirements. In addition to energy, Jan has expert knowledge and skill sets in the leasing of transportation assets including, but not limited to oil tankers and LNG vessels used to transport commodities.
Mr. Petrenko by background is a public finance investment banker in the municipal bond industry catering to municipalities and public agencies where he originated and underwrote tax exempt and taxable bond financings. Mr. Petrenko brings a substantial wealth of experience, knowledge and relationships to National Standard after a successful track record in the public finance industry, where he originated and closed annual volume of approximately $500 Million of public finance transactions prior to joining National Standard, as well as significant experience in renewable energy and infrastructure project financings.
Prior to National Standard Mr. Petrenko was a Managing Director of an investment bank focusing on energy financings and project finance and was previously Vice President of a San Francisco based municipal securities firm. Jan has worked on complex fixed income transactions in many facets of the investment banking and public finance sector and has built institutional relationships domestically and abroad. Mr. Petrenko has held his Series 6, 7, and 63 licenses. Jan is a frequent speaker at Public Private Partnership, energy and infrastructure conferences as well as industry training events. Mr. Petrenko resides in Northern California with his wife and two children and manages the firm's San Francisco office.
